Welcome to my portfolio! I’m Marcus Mears III, a 25-year-old Dallas-based Writer and Editor with a love for consumer tech.
I started out as a freelance ghostwriter, taking on any project I could to shed the rigid academic writing structure I’d learned and cut my teeth in the world of digital publishing. Deciding I would follow my passions and narrow in on a field of focus, I landed on Consumer Tech, where I quickly realized how fun and fulfilling it is to write commerce content like product reviews, deals, and buying guides.
So, that’s what I’ve done for major tech publications like TechRadar, How-To Geek, and MakeUseOf, and what I continue to do day in and day out.
Every now and again, I find time to pry myself away from my keyboard and computer screen. When I do, there’s a good chance you’ll find me slaving away over a hot stove, cooking up a new recipe to try out. And if I’m not there, I’m probably in the gym training to carry all the groceries inside in one go, or at my desk customizing my mechanical keyboard of the month.
I’ve also been a gamer since I can remember. I started out with the N64 and GameCube passed down from my sisters, stomping on Goombas and smashing pots for rupees every chance I could after I got home from school. Nowadays, Steam is my go-to, whether on my custom-built PC or trusty Steam Deck.
